Entertaiment is a complex and diverse activity that encompasses a wide range of media and genres from art, music or dance to films, games, sports or even visiting a theme park. It is understood objectively, involves communication between text and audience from an external stimulus, offers pleasure to the audience and occurs in a passive form. Many entertainments are inspired by stories, including the Persian professional storytelling tradition tale of Scheherazade whose power to entertain has led to it being retold in a wide variety of media: Rimsky-Korsakov and Ravel turned it into orchestral music; Pasolini made a film adaptation; and it is now included in innovative video games.
